General Power Module Fault Location Procedure (CE8800&7800&6800&5800)


Procedure

1. Use a multimeter to measure the input voltage of the power module, and check whether the input voltage is in the operating voltage range of the power module.


2. Unplug and plug the power module and its power cable to ensure that they are securely installed.


3. Perform a cross test over the power modules.

Move the power module to another switch or replace it with another power module that can work normally in another switch, to determine whether the power module or the switch itself is faulty.

· If the test proves that the power module is faulty, send the power module back for repair.

· If the test proves that the switch is faulty, contact technical support personnel.


General Optical Module Fault Location Procedure

Procedure

  1. 1. Check the model of the optical module. If it is not certified for Huawei Ethernet switches, replace it with one that is certified for Huawei Ethernet switches.

  2. 2. Run the display interface transceiver verbose command in the interface view to check attributes of the optical module, such as the rate and wavelength. Check whether the attributes are with those provided in the Hardware Description.

  3. 3. Use an optical power meter to measure the receive power on the interface.

    If no optical power meter is available, replace the optical module with another one of the same model and check whether the new optical module can work normally on the interface. Alternatively, run the display interface transceiver verbose command to check whether the transmit power and receive power of the optical module are consistent with the nominal values.
  4. 4. Connect the transmitter and receiver of the optical module using the same fiber to create a loopback interface and check whether the interface can go Up.

  5. 5. Check the configuration of the remote interface, for example, the negotiation state of the interface.

  6. 6. Take actions based on the cause of the fault. If the optical module is not certified for Huawei Ethernet switches, replace it with one that is certified for Huawei Ethernet switches. If the fault is caused by environmental factors or configuration, improve the environment or modify the configuration. If you experience difficulty rectifying the fault, contact technical support personnel.
